We’ve always had a strong ethos of using sustainable materials where possible, so today we thought we’d share some information on how our mango wood products are produced, and where this replenishable product comes from.
A slightly darker hardwood which has beautiful grains and natural patterns, you will see that many of our lanterns and some furniture pieces have been lovingly handmade with mango wood.
Mango trees grow and mature very quickly in comparison to many other trees, reaching full productivity and maturity in roughly 15 years. The mango plantations only harvest the trees for wood when the fruit stops growing or the trees reach their maximum growth point. Once this is done, new trees are then planted in their place. This means that the mango trees are therefore readily available, a by-product to mango fruit, thus eco friendly. A huge benefit is that this also provides further jobs and income for the farmers and an affordable, good quality material for the manufacturers.
